Cloud servers in Germany
Updated
A Wolkra cloud server is a KVM virtual machine in Frankfurt, Germany, that you create in under a minute, pay for by the hour, and use with unmetered bandwidth. Plans start at €3.49 per month, and every server comes with full root access and an IPv6 address.
What you get with a cloud server
Each server is a full KVM virtual machine with its own kernel, so you can run any software that works on Linux, or a MikroTik CHR router. The server boots from a network volume, which is what makes rebuilds, resizes and snapshots quick and safe.
Every cloud server includes:
- Root access with a root password sent by email, or SSH keys you add in the console
- An IPv6 address, included in the price, and an optional primary IPv4 for €0.89 per month
- Unmetered traffic with no per-GB fees and no monthly traffic bill (see our network)
- A browser console (VNC) for when SSH is not an option
- Rescue mode to repair a system that no longer boots
- Power actions: start, stop, reboot and hard reset
- Delete protection so a server cannot be removed by accident
- Labels to group servers and target them with firewalls and load balancers
- CPU, disk and network graphs in the console (see monitoring)
Plan families
Wolkra cloud servers come in three families that are available today. Pick by workload, not by habit.
| Family | Best for |
|---|---|
| Standard s | Websites, APIs, small databases, dev and test machines. Shared vCPU, balanced RAM and disk. |
| CPU-optimised c | Builds, CI runners, encoding, game servers, anything that keeps the CPU busy. |
| Memory-optimised m (m1, m2) | Databases, caches, search indexes and in-memory workloads. |
Here are the current plans and prices for Frankfurt:

How billing works
You top up a prepaid balance and servers are billed per started hour. The total for a month is capped at the plan's monthly price, so a server that runs all month never costs more than the listed figure. There is no contract and no setup fee. If you delete a server after three hours, you pay for three hours.
You can pay by card or with USDT and TRX on TRON. See payment methods and the hourly billing VPS page for the details.
Creating a server in the console
- Sign in to the console and open your project.
- Choose a plan family and size.
- Pick an operating system or a one-click app.
- Add an SSH key, or let us email a root password.
- Optionally attach a private network, a firewall, a volume or daily backups.
- Optionally paste cloud-init user data to configure the server on first boot.
The server is running within moments. One-click apps such as Docker, WordPress or n8n are ready a few minutes after boot. The step-by-step version is in create a server.
Managing servers with the API
Everything you can do in the console you can also script against the REST API at https://api.wolkra.com/v1. Create a project-scoped token in the console, then create, resize, rebuild or delete servers from your own tooling or deployment pipeline. The API tokens doc shows a first request.
Resize, rebuild and rescue
Resize moves a server to a bigger plan. CPU and RAM change right away after a restart, and the disk can grow to the new size. Disks never shrink, so pick a smaller plan only for new servers.
Rebuild reinstalls the server with another image and keeps the same server, IP addresses and plan. It is a fast way to start clean or to switch from Ubuntu to Debian.
Rescue mode boots a small recovery system so you can mount the disk, fix a broken config or copy data out.
Typical uses
- Web hosting and WordPress hosting
- Docker hosting and self-hosted tools
- VPN servers with WireGuard
- CI runners and development environments
- Databases on memory-optimised plans
- Backends for SaaS startups
Limits to know
- One location today: Frankfurt (fra1).
- Plans can grow but not shrink, because disks cannot be made smaller.
- Traffic is unmetered under a fair-use policy described in the Acceptable Use Policy. Ports are shared, up to 10 Gbit/s.

Frequently asked questions
What is a Wolkra cloud server?
It is a KVM virtual machine in our Frankfurt data center that boots from a network volume. You get root access, a public IPv6 address, an optional primary IPv4 and unmetered traffic.
How much does the smallest cloud server cost?
The s0 plan with 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM and 15 GB disk starts at €3.49 per month without VAT. You pay by the hour, and the bill never goes above the monthly price.
Can I resize a server later?
Yes. You can move a server to a bigger plan at any time. The disk can grow with the new plan but it never shrinks, so plan downgrades are not possible.
Is traffic included with every cloud server?
Yes. Traffic is unmetered on every plan with no per-GB fees. A fair-use policy applies, and ports go up to 10 Gbit/s, shared.
Which plan family should I pick?
Start with the Standard s family for websites, apps and general workloads. Choose CPU-optimised c for compute-heavy jobs and memory-optimised m for databases and caches that need more RAM.
Where are Wolkra cloud servers located?
All servers run in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, location fra1. Your data stays in Germany and the EU.
