Frequently asked questions
How does Wolkra billing work?
You keep a prepaid balance. Each resource is charged per started hour from that balance and never costs more than its monthly price in a month.
Is there a contract or minimum term?
No. There is no contract, no minimum term and no setup fee. Delete a resource and its charges stop.
What does the cheapest server cost?
Plans start at €3.49 a month for the s0 plan with 1 vCPU, 1 GB of memory and 15 GB of disk. A primary IPv4 address costs €0.89 a month on top. See the pricing page for every plan.
Are prices shown with VAT?
No. Prices are in EUR without VAT.
How much do backups cost?
Daily automatic backups cost 20% of the server price and keep 7 restore points. Snapshots are billed per GB.
What happens when my balance runs out?
Low-balance emails come first. At zero there is a grace period, then servers are stopped, and they are deleted only after a final notice. Topping up before deletion lets you start them again.
Can the balance top up automatically?
Yes. With a card you can turn on automatic top-up, so the balance is refilled when it runs low.
Which payment methods are accepted?
Cards through Stripe, including Visa and Mastercard, and crypto: USDT (TRC-20) and TRX on the TRON network.
Can I pay for a VPS with crypto?
Yes. Top up your balance with USDT on TRON (TRC-20) or with TRX. The balance is credited once the payment is confirmed on the network.
Which network should I use for USDT?
Only TRON (TRC-20). Sending USDT on another network to the TRON address shown can lose the payment.
Who processes card payments?
Stripe. Card details are entered with Stripe, as described in the privacy policy.
Is traffic really unmetered?
Yes. Every plan has unmetered traffic, with no per-GB fees and no monthly traffic bill. A fair-use policy applies, so we may limit resources that cause unusually heavy load for others.
Do you offer unlimited bandwidth?
We offer unmetered traffic, which is what most people mean by unlimited bandwidth: the volume is not billed. Port speed and the fair-use policy still apply.
How fast are the network ports?
Ports go up to 10 Gbit/s and are shared. The speed is not dedicated or guaranteed.
Do servers get IPv6?
Yes. An IPv6 address is included with every server. A primary IPv4 address is optional and billed monthly.
Can I set reverse DNS?
Yes. You can set the PTR record for primary and floating IPs in the console.
What is the difference between a floating IP and an Elastic IP?
A floating IP is assigned to a server and moves to another server in seconds. An Elastic IP is a public IP NATed to a server that lives only on a private network.
Can servers run without a public IP?
Yes. Put them on a private network only. A NAT gateway gives them outgoing internet access, and a load balancer can reach them over the network.
Where is the data center?
In Frankfurt am Main, Germany (location fra1, zone eu-central). It serves Germany and the rest of Europe with low latency from the centre of Europe.
What kind of virtualisation do you use?
KVM. Each server is a full virtual machine with its own kernel, booting from a network volume.
Which plan families are available?
Standard (s) with shared vCPU, CPU-optimised (c) and memory-optimised (m).
Can I upgrade my server later?
Yes. Resize to a bigger plan at any time. The disk can grow but never shrink.
Can I add more storage?
Yes. Attach block storage volumes from 10 GB to 10 TB, billed per GB per month. They can grow online and move between servers.
What if I lock myself out of SSH?
Open the browser (VNC) console from the server view, or boot into rescue mode to repair files on the disk.
Do you offer load balancers?
Yes. Load balancers support layer 4 and HTTP with health checks, and targets can be servers, label selectors or IPs, including private-only servers.
Are firewalls included?
Yes, firewalls are free. They are stateful, support inbound and outbound rules, and apply to servers or label selectors.
Which operating systems can I install?
Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, CentOS Stream, Fedora and MikroTik CHR. You can also create servers from your own snapshots.
Do you support cloud-init?
Yes. Paste user data when you create a server, as a cloud-config file or a shell script, and it runs on the first boot.
Which one-click apps are available?
Docker CE with Compose, WordPress (Caddy, PHP, MariaDB, WP-CLI), n8n, Coolify, WireGuard VPN, GitLab CE and OpenClaw. Each is ready a few minutes after the server boots.
Can I install my own software?
Yes. You have full root access and can install anything that is allowed by the acceptable use policy.
Is Wolkra GDPR-friendly?
Servers and their data stay in Germany and the EU. The privacy policy lists the processors used for email, payments and website protection. Your own GDPR duties as a controller still apply.
Do you provide DDoS protection?
Cloudflare protects our website and console. We do not promise DDoS protection for customer servers.
How do I report abuse?
Email [email protected] with the IP or hostname, the time with time zone and evidence. Each report is handled as a case with deadlines.
Does the console support two-factor authentication?
Yes. Turn on TOTP two-factor authentication in your account settings. You can also review active sessions and sign out devices.
Can I sign in with Google?
Yes. Sign-in with Google is available next to email and password.
Can I work with a team?
Yes. Organizations have members with owner, admin, billing and member roles, projects with per-project roles, and an activity log.
Is there an API?
Yes. A REST API at https://api.wolkra.com/v1 with project-scoped tokens that start with wk_, read or read/write, with optional IP allow lists and expiry.
Can I draw my setup instead of clicking through it?
Yes. The Composer in the console is a visual canvas for servers, networks, load balancers, firewalls and volumes. It shows the monthly cost before you apply the stack.
How do I contact support?
Open a ticket in the console or email [email protected].
