A VPS for Europe, from the centre of Europe
Updated
A Wolkra VPS gives you a server in Frankfurt, Germany, that reaches users across Europe with low latency, with unmetered traffic and hourly billing from €3.49 per month. One central location, European data residency and no per-GB fees make it a practical home for European projects.
Europe from one place
People often search for a "Europe VPS" when what they really need is a server their visitors in Paris, Warsaw, Madrid and Stockholm can all reach quickly. Frankfurt is a good answer to that. It is in the geographic and network centre of the continent, and it is where a large share of Europe's internet traffic passes through.
Running everything from one location also keeps your architecture simple. You have one set of servers, one private network and one place where your data lives, instead of keeping several regions in sync.
| Your audience | How one Frankfurt server fits |
|---|---|
| Mainly Germany, Austria, Switzerland | Very close to home |
| Spread across the EU | Central position, low latency across Europe |
| Europe plus a few global users | Good base, add a CDN for static files |
| Mostly Asia or the Americas | Consider a provider with regions there |
We think it is fair to say the last row out loud. If most of your users are outside Europe, a European VPS is not the best fit for that part of your workload.
Who chooses a European VPS
- EU startups and SaaS teams that want their product, database and backups inside the EU.
- Non-EU companies with European customers who need a place to serve those customers from Europe.
- Developers who want a cheap Linux box with root access and no traffic counting.
- Communities and creators running forums, Discord bots, game servers or media sites for a European audience.
- Privacy-minded individuals hosting their own VPN, mail relay or cloud storage.
What a European server from Wolkra includes
- KVM virtual machines with full root access, booting from a network volume.
- Unmetered traffic on every plan, with fair use and ports up to 10 Gbit/s shared. See unmetered bandwidth VPS.
- IPv6 included, with an optional primary IPv4 at €0.89 per month, and reverse DNS you can set yourself. Details on IP addresses.
- A free stateful firewall with inbound and outbound rules.
- Private networks, NAT gateways and Elastic IPs, so backend servers can stay off the public internet.
- Floating IPs and load balancers for setups that need to survive one server going down.
- Daily backups and on-demand snapshots stored in Germany.

Choosing a plan
Standard plans (s) suit websites, APIs and most small services. CPU-optimised plans (c) help with builds, encoding and compute-heavy apps. Memory-optimised plans (m) fit databases, caches and analytics. Live prices for Frankfurt:

Billing that works for European teams
Prices are in euros without VAT. You pay into a prepaid balance and each server is charged per started hour, capped at its monthly price. That keeps the bill predictable for finance and flexible for engineering.
- Card payments run through Stripe and accept Visa, Mastercard and other cards.
- Crypto payments accept USDT (TRC-20) and TRX on TRON, useful for teams outside the usual banking routes. See crypto VPS.
- No contracts or setup fees, and no traffic invoice at the end of the month.
When your balance gets low we email you before anything stops. The billing docs explain the grace period and what happens next.

Data residency in plain words
Servers, volumes, backups and snapshots for your account are stored in our German data center. The website and console are protected by Cloudflare, emails go out through AWS in the Frankfurt region and cards are handled by Stripe, as described in our privacy policy. For a longer look at what this means for compliance, read GDPR hosting in Germany.

Frequently asked questions
Which country is a Wolkra Europe VPS located in?
Every Wolkra server runs in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. That one location serves customers all over Europe.
Why use one location in Germany instead of several across Europe?
Frankfurt is central, so one server there reaches most of Europe with low latency. For many projects that is simpler and cheaper than running copies in several countries.
Is a Wolkra VPS a European provider for GDPR purposes?
Your servers and their data are stored in Germany. Our privacy policy lists the processors we use, such as AWS in the Frankfurt region for email, Stripe for cards and Cloudflare for the website and console.
Can customers outside the EU sign up?
Yes. Anyone can create an account and pay by card or with USDT or TRX on TRON. Prices are shown in EUR without VAT.
Is bandwidth limited on a Europe VPS?
Traffic is unmetered with fair use, so you are not billed per GB. Ports go up to 10 Gbit/s and are shared with other customers on the host.
