Our network: unmetered bandwidth from Frankfurt
Updated
Every Wolkra server in Frankfurt comes with unmetered bandwidth: we do not count your traffic, there are no per-GB fees and there is never a monthly traffic bill. Ports go up to 10 Gbit/s shared, every server can have IPv4 and IPv6, and a fair-use policy keeps the network fast for everyone.
Unmetered bandwidth, explained
Many cloud providers include a traffic allowance with each plan and charge for every gigabyte or terabyte above it. That makes your bill depend on things you do not fully control: a viral post, a crawler, a big release, a backup job.
On Wolkra, traffic is unmetered on every plan:
- No per-GB fees, inbound or outbound
- No traffic allowance to run out of
- No monthly traffic bill, and nothing to forecast
- The same rule on every plan, from the €3.49 s0 upward
What you pay is the price of the server and the extras you add, billed by the hour and capped at the monthly price. See the pricing page.
"Unlimited bandwidth VPS" and fair use
If you searched for an unlimited bandwidth VPS in Germany, this is the honest version of it. No physical network is unlimited, so we do not pretend ours is. What we offer is unmetered traffic with fair use:
- You can use your server's connection for normal workloads without watching a counter.
- A fair-use policy applies, as described in the Acceptable Use Policy.
- If a resource causes unusually heavy load that affects other customers, we may limit it.
For most websites, APIs, SaaS backends, VPNs, game servers, file downloads and backups, fair use never comes up. The guide on unmetered vs unlimited bandwidth goes into the difference in more detail, and the unmetered bandwidth VPS and unlimited bandwidth VPS pages compare the options.
Port speed: up to 10 Gbit/s, shared
Server ports go up to 10 Gbit/s and are shared between the servers on a host. In practice that means fast transfers and plenty of headroom for bursts. It does not mean a dedicated or guaranteed 10 Gbit/s per server, and we do not promise one.
IPv4 and IPv6
| Address | Price |
|---|---|
| IPv6 address | Included with every server |
| Primary IPv4 | €0.89 per month |
| Floating IPs and Elastic IPs | See pricing |
Reverse DNS (PTR) can be set for primary and floating IPs, which matters for mail servers. Servers that only talk to other servers can skip IPv4 altogether and live on a private network. Details are on the IP addresses page.
Low latency across Europe
Our data center is in Frankfurt am Main, one of the best-connected cities in Europe. From the centre of Europe, servers reach users across Germany, the EU and neighbouring regions with low latency. That makes Frankfurt a strong choice for a single location that serves a European audience. The pages on VPS Germany and VPS Europe cover this further.
Networking features on top
- Private networks with your own IP ranges, for traffic between servers
- NAT gateways for private servers that need outbound access
- Load balancers for layer 4 and HTTP traffic
- Floating IPs that move between servers in seconds
- Firewalls, stateful and free
All of them share the same rule: no per-GB fees.
What the network is good for
- Media and downloads: serve files and video without a bill that grows with every visitor
- Backups and sync: move large backups in and out on a schedule, see the backup strategy guide
- VPN servers: route a team's traffic without counting it
- Game servers: steady traffic all day without overage fees
- CI runners: pull images and dependencies freely
- Self-hosting: photo libraries, file sync and media servers
What we do not publish
We do not publish address ranges, routing details or test endpoints. The best test is your own: create a server, run your workload for a few hours, and delete it if it is not right. With hourly billing that costs a few cents.
Limits to know
- Fair use applies to all traffic under the Acceptable Use Policy.
- Ports are up to 10 Gbit/s and shared, not dedicated.
- An IPv6 address is included; we do not promise a specific prefix size.
- One location today: Frankfurt, Germany.
- Cloudflare protects our website and console. We do not offer a separate DDoS protection product for servers.

Frequently asked questions
Is bandwidth really unmetered on every plan?
Yes. Traffic is unmetered on every Wolkra plan. We do not count gigabytes, there are no per-GB fees and there is no monthly traffic bill.
Is it the same as unlimited bandwidth?
People often search for unlimited bandwidth when they mean this. On Wolkra it means unmetered traffic under a fair-use policy: you are not billed per GB, but we may limit a resource whose unusually heavy load affects other customers.
How fast is the network port?
Ports go up to 10 Gbit/s and are shared. We do not promise a dedicated or guaranteed 10 Gbit/s for a single server.
Do servers get IPv4 and IPv6?
Every server can have an IPv6 address, included in the price, and an optional primary IPv4 address for €0.89 per month.
What latency can I expect?
Frankfurt sits in the centre of Europe, so servers there offer low latency to users across Europe. Exact numbers depend on where your visitors are and their own network.
What counts as unfair use?
Use that causes unusually heavy load for others, or that breaks the Acceptable Use Policy, such as attacks or spam. Normal websites, apps, downloads, backups and streaming within reason are what the network is for.
