Unmetered bandwidth VPS
Updated
Every Wolkra VPS comes with unmetered bandwidth: we don't count your traffic for billing, so there are no per-GB fees and no monthly traffic bill. Servers run in Frankfurt, Germany, on ports up to 10 Gbit/s shared, under a fair-use policy.
How unmetered traffic works at Wolkra
Think of three separate things that people often mix up:
| Term | What it is | At Wolkra |
|---|---|---|
| Traffic billing | Whether transfer appears on your invoice | Not billed, on every plan |
| Port speed | The maximum rate a server's network link can reach | Up to 10 Gbit/s, shared |
| Fair use | Rules that protect other customers | Heavy load for others may be limited |
So "unmetered" answers the billing question. Your invoice is the plan price plus any add-ons, whether you served 50 GB or many terabytes that month. Port speed and fair use describe the physical and policy limits that any shared platform has. We spell out both instead of hiding them behind the word "unlimited". The network page has more on how traffic is handled.
Why it matters for your bill
On an allowance model, each plan includes a fixed amount of transfer and every unit above it is charged. That is fine for small sites, but costs become hard to predict when:
- a post goes viral and traffic jumps for a week,
- you start serving video, game patches or software downloads,
- a customer uploads a large dataset you need to sync,
- you run backups from other machines into your server every night.
With unmetered traffic, none of these change your invoice. You can budget for servers, not for gigabytes.
Workloads that benefit most
- Download mirrors and package caches for Linux distributions or internal builds.
- Media and file sharing, such as Jellyfin, Nextcloud or a photo archive for a club.
- VPN servers for a team or family, where all traffic passes through the server. See the WireGuard app.
- Backup targets receiving offsite copies from other servers or a home NAS.
- Game servers and voice servers for communities across Europe. See game servers.
- CI runners that pull large container images many times a day. See CI runners.
- Web crawling and data pipelines within the limits of our Acceptable Use Policy.
What you still pay for
Unmetered does not mean everything is free, so here is the honest list. You pay for the server plan, a primary IPv4 address if you want one (€0.89 per month), block storage volumes per GB, backups at 20% of the server price and snapshots per GB. Firewalls are free and IPv6 is included. All of this is listed on pricing.

Fair use, in practice
Shared infrastructure only works when no single server hurts everyone else. If a server causes unusually heavy load for other customers, for example by saturating a host for long periods or by sending attack traffic, we may limit it. Abuse cases are handled through [email protected] with deadlines for the customer to respond. Normal busy workloads, including sustained high traffic for legitimate services, are what unmetered is for.
If you expect a very unusual traffic pattern, open a ticket before you launch. It is easier to plan together than to react later.
Billing without surprises
Traffic is not billed, and the rest is simple too. You keep a prepaid balance, servers are charged per started hour and capped at the monthly price. You can pay by card or with USDT (TRC-20) or TRX on TRON, and there are no contracts or setup fees. Read more about hourly billing.

Frequently asked questions
What does unmetered bandwidth mean?
It means we don't count your traffic for billing. There is no monthly transfer allowance to use up and no per-GB or per-TB charge, on any plan.
Is unmetered the same as a guaranteed 10 Gbit/s?
No. Ports go up to 10 Gbit/s and are shared with other customers on the same host, so the speed you see depends on the host and network at that moment.
What does the fair-use policy cover?
Our Acceptable Use Policy lets us limit resources that cause unusually heavy load for other customers. It exists to keep the platform fair, not to bill you for traffic.
Is inbound and outbound traffic both unmetered?
Yes. Neither direction is counted for billing on Wolkra servers.
Do I pay more for traffic on bigger plans?
No. Every plan, from the smallest Standard server to Memory-optimised plans, has unmetered traffic. You only pay for the plan and any add-ons you choose.
