Unlimited bandwidth VPS, explained honestly
Updated
If you are looking for an unlimited bandwidth VPS, Wolkra's answer is unmetered traffic: no transfer cap and no per-GB fees on any plan, on ports up to 10 Gbit/s shared, under a fair-use policy. Our servers are in Frankfurt, Germany, and start at €3.49 per month.
"Unlimited" is a search term, not a specification
Nobody can sell a truly unlimited network. Every virtual server connects through a physical port with a maximum speed, and that port is shared by the servers on the same host. So when a provider says "unlimited bandwidth", it usually means one of these:
- Unmetered traffic. Transfer isn't counted for billing. This is what Wolkra offers.
- A very large allowance. There is a cap, it is just high. Going over may cost money or reduce speed.
- Unlimited until throttled. Traffic is free, but speed drops sharply after a hidden threshold.
The first option is the one that tends to hold up in daily use. The other two can look the same on a pricing page and behave very differently on your invoice or in your graphs. Our guide unmetered vs unlimited bandwidth goes deeper.
Questions to ask any "unlimited" provider
Use this checklist when you compare offers, including ours.
| Question | Wolkra's answer |
|---|---|
| Is traffic counted on the invoice? | No, on every plan |
| Is there a monthly TB allowance? | No |
| What is the port speed? | Up to 10 Gbit/s |
| Is the port dedicated or shared? | Shared |
| Is speed reduced after a threshold? | No fixed threshold |
| What can lead to limits? | Unusually heavy load for others, per the Acceptable Use Policy |
| Where is the server? | Frankfurt, Germany |
If a provider can't answer the shared-or-dedicated question or doesn't publish a fair-use rule, treat "unlimited" as marketing until proven otherwise.
Who looks for unlimited bandwidth
The people who search for this usually have a specific job in mind:
- Media hosts running a personal Jellyfin library for friends and family.
- VPN operators who route a whole household or small team through one server.
- Open-source projects hosting mirrors, release files or container images.
- Teams moving large files between offices, studios or other clouds, within the law and our policies.
- Agencies with many client sites that don't want to track transfer per site.
For a traffic-heavy workload, also look at disk space. Bigger files need storage, so consider attaching block storage volumes from 10 GB up to 10 TB to a modest server.
What "unmetered" looks like on your bill
Here is the full cost of a simple setup on Wolkra:
| Item | Monthly cost |
|---|---|
| s0 server (1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, 15 GB disk) | €3.49 |
| Primary IPv4 | €0.89 |
| Traffic | €0.00 |
| Firewall | €0.00 |
| IPv6 address | Included |
Prices are in EUR without VAT, and servers are billed per started hour, capped at the monthly price. Bigger plans follow the same pattern: the traffic line stays at zero.
Standard
Shared vCPU for websites, apps, VPNs and development.
| Plan | vCPU | RAM | Disk | Traffic | Hourly | Monthly cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| S0 | 1 | 1 GB | 15 GB | Unmetered | €0.0056 | €3.49 |
| S1 | 1 | 2 GB | 30 GB | Unmetered | €0.0080 | €4.99 |
| S2 | 2 | 4 GB | 40 GB | Unmetered | €0.0144 | €8.99 |
| S3 | 2 | 8 GB | 50 GB | Unmetered | €0.0200 | €12.49 |
| S4 | 4 | 8 GB | 80 GB | Unmetered | €0.0288 | €17.99 |
| S5 | 4 | 16 GB | 100 GB | Unmetered | €0.0400 | €24.99 |
For CPU-heavy work, such as transcoding, the c plans are worth a look.
Where the line is
We want heavy users. What we don't allow is traffic that harms others: attacks, spam, or a server that saturates a shared host for long periods in a way that degrades its neighbours. When that happens we may limit the resource and contact you. Abuse reports go to [email protected] and come with deadlines to respond. That is the whole "catch", written down.
Getting started
- Create an account and top up by card, USDT or TRX.
- Launch a server in Frankfurt with your preferred Linux distribution.
- Add a firewall and attach a volume if you need extra space.
- Check the network graph in the console to see what your workload really uses.
Not sure about the term "unmetered"? Our unmetered bandwidth VPS page explains how billing works, and network covers the technical side.
Try it for an hour
Because billing is hourly, you can test your real traffic on a Wolkra server for the price of a coffee and delete it if it doesn't fit. Sign up and launch a server.
Frequently asked questions
Does Wolkra offer unlimited bandwidth?
We offer unmetered traffic, which is what most people mean by unlimited bandwidth: no transfer allowance and no per-GB fees. The real limits are a shared port of up to 10 Gbit/s and a fair-use policy.
Why don't you just call it unlimited?
Because every server has a physical port speed and every shared platform has rules against hurting other customers. Calling that unmetered with fair use is more accurate.
Will my server be throttled after a certain number of terabytes?
There is no terabyte threshold. We may only limit a server that causes unusually heavy load for other customers, as described in our Acceptable Use Policy.
Is an unlimited bandwidth VPS good for streaming or downloads?
It can be. Unmetered traffic suits media servers, mirrors and VPNs, as long as the content and traffic follow our Acceptable Use Policy.
Where are your unlimited bandwidth servers located?
All servers are in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, which gives low latency across Europe from the centre of Europe.
