VPS in Germany
Updated
Wolkra rents KVM virtual servers in Frankfurt, Germany, from €3.49 per month, with unmetered traffic on every plan and billing by the hour from a prepaid balance. You sign up, add credit by card or crypto, and have a root shell on a German server a minute or two later.
Why put your server in Germany
Germany sits in the middle of Europe, and Frankfurt is one of the busiest network hubs on the continent. A server there gives you low latency across Europe from the centre of Europe, which matters for websites, APIs, game communities and VPN users spread across several countries.
There is also the question of where your data lives. With a Wolkra VPS, the disks, backups and snapshots are stored in our Frankfurt data center, so your data stays in Germany and the EU. For many businesses that answers the first question in a customer's privacy review before it is asked. Read more on EU VPS and GDPR.
Who a Germany VPS is for
- Businesses with German or EU customers that want hosting close to their users and inside the EU.
- Developers and small teams who need a cheap, honest server for side projects, staging and production.
- Agencies that host client websites and want predictable costs without traffic surprises.
- Self-hosters running Nextcloud, n8n, Coolify, a WireGuard VPN or a media library on their own machine.
- Anyone who moves a lot of data, such as download mirrors or backup targets, and is tired of overage bills.

Unmetered traffic, explained in one paragraph
Most providers include a fixed amount of transfer and charge for every extra gigabyte or terabyte. Wolkra does not count your traffic for billing. Ports run at up to 10 Gbit/s, shared with other customers on the same host, and our Acceptable Use Policy lets us limit a server that causes unusually heavy load for others. For normal and even busy workloads, that means your bill depends only on the servers you run. The network page has the details.
How billing works
You keep a prepaid balance in your account. Each server is charged per started hour and never more than its monthly price in a month. Delete a server after three hours and you pay for three hours.
- Top up by card (Visa, Mastercard and others through Stripe) or with USDT (TRC-20) or TRX on TRON. See payment methods.
- Turn on automatic card top-ups if you prefer not to watch the balance.
- If the balance runs low you get an email first. When it reaches zero there is a grace period, then servers are stopped, and they are only deleted after a final notice.

One location, done carefully
We run one location today, Frankfurt, and we would rather tell you that up front. If your users are in Europe, one well-connected German site is usually what you need. If you need servers in Asia or the Americas, a provider with many regions may suit you better for those parts of your stack.
